About the Author

Born and raised in New York, freelance writer Wes Eichenwald lived many years in the Boston area, then moved to Slovenia for five years (1996-2001), then moved to Austin, Texas. (Doesn't everybody do much the same thing?) Wes's original website went up in April of 2000, incorporating writing he'd done and photos he'd taken since relocating to Ljubljana; it was not only the first homepage primarily about Slovenia to be written by a non-Slovene, it was, in effect, a proto-blog before blogging was cool. It is still up and running at www.pogoer.org, although you can find Wes's more current writings at http://pogoer.wordpress.com.
